Finish inside entrance to Teign estuary. Best not to arrive at high tide, as the beach close to the car park will be covered. Parking at The Ness car park a short way up the hill (there's a pub on the way...). Public toilets and cafe at car park.

Best in at SW/SSW wind. SE winds may make the launch location dangerous.

After launching paddle east along the coast to Berry Head. Once clear of the headland turn north and aim for the Orestone (the large island off Hope's Nose). The waves get particularly good on the approach to Hope's Nose. Best to pass inside the Orestone, but outside of the smaller flat rock off the headland to avoid angler's lines. After the headland the waves drop off in size for 1-2km but then increase again as you get closer to Teignmouth. Aim for the big red headland to the left of Teignmouth Pier.
